Compact, durable and multi-functional, the smartScanndy is suitable for a variety of applications. From healthcare to warehouse inventory management and specific applications such as time registration and sales automation, the smartScanndy takes asset management to the next level by streamlining sales operations, inventory control and asset management.
The smartScanndy is relatively durable, and it’s compact enough to fit into a standard shirt pocket, making it useful for on-the-go workers who navigate their way around a warehouse or retail building but require easy, fast access to a fully-connected scanner. It’s also resistant to dust and water, and can withstand drops to concrete from heights of about 1.5 meters, so applications in which operators may be standing on ladders or scaffolding to scan higher-level shelves or items are feasible applications for this device.
Scanning Capabilities
The smartScanndy is compatible with all common 1D and 2D symbologies, in addition to offering RFID reading and writing functionality to various RFID standards. This is a single, compact device offering an integrated barcode scanner 1D Laser, 1D Imager,1D and 2D Imager, RFID reader/writer for LF 125KHz , HF 13,56MHz ISO15693, 13,56MHz ISO14443A and Mifare, UHF 868 – 940MHz EPC Gen2. Integrated EMMware middleware and compatibility for both iOS and Android devices make this one of the most versatile handheld scanners available.

With a 233 MHz processor, the smartScanndy enables rapid repeat scanning to meet the needs of today’s fast-moving applications. A slew of interface options enable data transfer using practically any method you prefer.
Operating Systems and Software 
The smartScanndy is powered by the Linux operating system, connecting online via an optional Bluetooth or USB connection. It also operates in Batch mode (for synchronized data without user access for greater security or streamlined data collection) without losing connectivity.
The Smart Universal Configurator is available free of charge, enabling easy graphical interface configuration with no programming skills; a few simple clicks of the mouse can configure your device to match your specific usage requirements and user preferences. It also means there’s no external software development necessary to get the functionality you require. The Smart Universal Configurator enables you to:
- Change assigned button functions
- Configure data storage
- Format data records
- Set output formats like ASCII or hexadecimal for RFID
- Set vibrations and tones for error notifications
- Configure a variety of other device options
Once you’ve configured a single device, your settings may be easily copied and transferred to other devices to save time and ensure consistency. The Universal software is already pre-configured out-of-the-box.
Durability
Offering operational efficiency and functionality in temperatures ranging from -10 to 50 degrees Celsius, the smartScanndy can be stored in slightly higher temperatures ranging from -20 to 70 degrees Celsius. It can withstand humidity in the range of 5% to 95%, non-condensing, and drops to concrete from a height of 1.5 meters.
With an IP-54 rating, the smartScanndy doesn’t quite meet the desirable IP-65 military specification, but does offer more durability than many standard handheld scanners designed solely for indoor, general-purpose applications. However, the smartScanndy shouldn’t be used in applications in which repeated or continuous exposure to extreme temperatures, rain or harsh chemicals are common.
Additional Features and Functionality
The smartScanndy is powered by a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery with 1050mAh, which can be recharged using the USB interface. Alternatively, 3 AAA non-rechargeable batteries may be used. The smartScanndy offers up to 16 hours of continuous use depending on applications and configurations.
It offers both tone and vibration configurations to provide valuable user feedback when scanning and processing errors occur, reducing human error and the need to revisit prior activities, as well as preserving data loss. The smartScanndy is IP-54 rated.
